Melissa Boughey’s paintings have been a long time favourite of Monsoon Living. We adore her use of colour and texture and find so much joy in her work.

Melissa is an abstract painter based in Denmark, in southern Western Australia. She currently works from her home studio, overlooking pristine rehabilitated wetlands, and takes inspiration from her immediate surroundings and any recent road trips across the WA landscape.

Her textured, abstract work speaks of a life lived on the land, an intimate connection with both the wild and tamed landscapes in her close daily interactions. Titles often allude to the narrative experience of these spaces and provide some insight into the thought process behind the art.

Melissa exhibits regularly in Melbourne, Sydney and regional Western Australia. Her work is held in the Busselton Health Service, Mental Health Unit, WA, The Office of the Public Sector, Government of Western Australia and private collections in Australia, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and France.
